Camp Pecometh

Established in 1946, Camp Pecometh is the place to come for fun and fellowship all year around. Owned and operated by the Peninsula-Delaware Conference of the United Methodist Church, Camp Pecometh is located in Centreville, Maryland, on the Chester River, about 1.5 hours from the Baltimore/ Washington area.

One of their most popular programs year after year, Horseback Riding, gives campers the opportunity to learn basic riding skills like walking, trotting, and cantering. Campers travel daily to Worthmore Equestrian Center, where professional instructors give riding lessons and teach campers how to properly care for the horses.

"Cowboy" Polo

The group is based out of Chesapeake City, MD with riders from various areas of the Delmarva Peninsula.  During the winter months they call Worthmore home due to the unreliability of the weather to play in their outdoor arena.
The players know each other well, with friends and several generations all playing together.  Though most players ride western, there is no rule that an english rider cannot join in the fun.

Similar in objective to field (or English) polo, the game is played with ~10 people, one set of opponents at either end of the arena.  Each team attempts to score goals by knocking the ball (usually a soccer ball) with their mallet into the opponent’s goal.  It is a fast pace game testing both horse and rider.

Anyone is welcome, please visit our "Events" page to view their schedule.

Kent Association of Riding Therapy

Since 1984, Kent Association of Riding Therapy, Inc. (KART) has been offering much more than a simple pony ride to our challenging population of riders!  As a Premiere Accredited Center of the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association, Inc., we offer our participants activities which benefit their bodies, minds and spirits.  Everyone rides a horse, but they also have "hands on" experience in the stable management program as well as classroom experiences to enhance their developmental growth. Children, youth and adults with a wide range of abilities participate. From pre-school aged students to adults attending the Easter Seals Camp Fairlee, our riders are diverse.

Washington College Equestrian Team

The Equestrian Club at Washington College is open to all students, regardless of riding ability or experience. Students may choose to be a part of the club, which holds regular meetings, organizes trail rides and participates in horse oriented activities.

Unlike other college sports, IHSA allows riders of all levels to compete at IHSA sponsored shows. Unlike traditional United States Equestrian Federation shows, host schools provide the horses used in intercollegiate competitions, so neither members of our club or team are required to own their own horses. The hunt seat team rides out of Worthmore Equestrian Center with coach Chris Bilgelow. The western team is currently riding at Wye River Kennels in Queenstown, MD with David Walbert.
